The FCC requirements for stereo broadcasting by multiplex methods necessitate the use of a complex signal for modulation of laboratory FM signal generators. A multiplex stereo generator provides a composite signal containing main channel modulation, subcarrier channel modulation, and a 19 kc pilot signal.
